KUHNHACKL’S LATE GOAL LIFTS PENGUINS PAST SHARKS

WORCESTER, Mass.  – Tom Kuhnhackl’s power play tally with 39.6 seconds left in regulation was part of a two-goal performance that helped the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-2 win against the Worcester Sharks at DCU Center.      Heading into the third period down by a score of 1-0, Kuhnhackl pulled Wilkes-Barre/Scranton even at 1:48, taking an Andrew Ebbett pass from the goal line and beating Sharks goalie Harri Sateri with a wrist shot from the low slot.  … read more

PENGUINS DOUBLE UP PHANTOMS

PITTSBURGH RECALLS CONNER

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Chris Conner from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Conner, 29, is tied for the WBS team lead in both goals (3) and points (4) through three games, helping the Penguins post a 3-0 record and a first-place standing in the Eastern Conference’s East Division. ZOLNIERCZYK FIRST TO GET CALL FROM PITTSBURGH

  BY KENNY DURLING The news of the day out of Coal Street was that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Harry Zolnierczyk was recalled by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday morning.  Zolnierczyk could make his Pittsburgh debut as early as Tuesday night when the Penguins host the Edmonton Oilers at 7:00pm.  The decision to recall Zolnierczyk came about after rookie forward Beau Bennett was ruled out of action for Tuesday’s game with what is being described as a lower body injury.… read more

PITTSBURGH RECALLS ZOLNIERCZYK

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Harry Zolnierczyk from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. The Penguins have also placed forward James Neal on injured reserve. Zolnierczyk, 26, has played in three games with WBS, helping the team post a 3-0 record by scoring a club-high (tied) three goals. PENGUINS PULL AWAY IN THIRD FOR WIN OVER CRUNCH

PENGUINS STRIKE LATE TO SKATE PAST BEARS

FORMER PENGUIN JOHN SLANEY NAMED AHL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE

Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins captain John Slaney was among the four players named as members of the American Hockey League's 2014 Hall of Fame class, it was announced on Thursday. FULL RELEASE - AHL 2014 HALL OF FAME CLASS A member of the Penguins inaugural team, Slaney played parts of two seasons in Wilkes-Barre, recording 110 points (42+68) in just 89 games.  He led the 1999-2000 squad with 30 goals and 60 points in 49 contests, and became the first defenseman to eclipse the 30-goal… read more

PENGUINS RECALL MANNINO FROM WHEELING

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that goaltender Peter Mannino has been recalled from loan from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.    Mannino stopped 21-of-22 shots over two periods of play during the Nailers’ 4-3 preseason loss to the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday.  Signed by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on July 24, the sixth-year pro went 10-7-0 in 20 games with the Manchester Monarchs last season, while recording a 2.47 goals against average… read more
