PENGUINS AND MORMINA RAISE FUNDS FOR ACS

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ fans and defenseman Joey Mormina helped raise $425.81 for the American Cancer Society during home games Friday and Saturday at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Mormina recruited a few of his Penguins teammates to help raise awareness about prostate cancer prevention and treatment. PENGUINS SIGN DIMITRIAKOS

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Niko Dimitrakos to a professional tryout agreement. The Penguins also announced that forward Chris Barton has been reassigned to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). Dimitrakos, 32, skated overseas for the past four seasons, splitting last year with Modo Hockey of the Swedish Elite League and the Mannheim Eagles of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).
