PENGUINS DEFEAT BEARS, CLAIM FIFTH STRAIGHT VICTORY

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Joe Vitale scored two goals, one shorthanded, and Brad Thiessen turned aside 30 shots to help the Penguins to their fifth consecutive win to start the season, 3-2 over the Hershey Bears. Penguins Spoil Charlotte Debut

Dustin Jeffrey netted two goals and Brad Thiessen made 30 saves to lead the Penguins to a 4-2 win over the Charlotte Checkers on Friday night. The game was the first regular season home contest for the Checkers, the new AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes. DUSTIN JEFFREY ASSIGNED TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned forward Dustin Jeffrey to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
