Blandisi Recalled by Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Joseph Blandisi from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

Sidney Crosby has been placed on injured reserve.

Blandisi, 25, appeared in seven games for Pittsburgh after his first recall on October 11, tallying two points (1G-1A).

The Markham, Ontario native has skated in eight games for the WBS Penguins this season, recording four points (2G-2A).

Blandisi has played in parts of four seasons in the NHL, compiling 28 points (9G-19A) in 87 games while hitting career highs during his rookie season in 2015-16 with New Jersey in games played (41), goals (5), assists (12) and points (17).

In parts of four seasons in the AHL with Albany, San Diego, Binghamton and WBS, Blandisi has totaled 124 points (44G-80A) in 166 games while also being named an AHL All-Star in ’16-17 while with Albany.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next game is tonight, Saturday, Nov. 16, against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Puck drop between the Penguins and Phantoms is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
