PITTSBURGH ASSIGNS LAFFERTY, ANGELLO TO WILKES-BARRE

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forwards Sam Lafferty and Anthony Angello to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

Lafferty, 24, has points (1G-1A) in two of his past five games and 13 points (6G-7A) overall in 46 games with Pittsburgh this season.

In only six games with WBS this season, Lafferty has three goals.

Angello, 23, just recently scored his first NHL goal in a Penguins win against Toronto on February 18. In seven games with Pittsburgh, including his NHL debut on January 31 against Philadelphia, Angello has one point (1G).

At the AHL level this season, Angello has 25 points (16G-9A) in 47 games with his 16 goals leading all WBS skaters.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next game is Wednesday, Feb. 26 when it gets another crack at the Providence Bruins on home ice. Puck drop between the Penguins and the Bruins is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
