PENGUINS ACQUIRE PETER DILIBERATORE
The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired defenseman Peter DiLiberatore and a 2024 third-round draft pick from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Teddy Blueger, it was announced today by general manager Ron Hextall.
“We are grateful for everything that Teddy has done for this team and the organization over the past 10 years,” said Hextall. “He was one of our most reliable penalty killers and a consummate professional. We wish him nothing but the best going forward.”
DiLiberatore, 22, is signed through the 2022-23 season and carries an average annual value of $925,000 at the NHL level. He will report to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.
The 6-foot, 185-pound defenseman has split the 2022-23 season between the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL and the Savannah Ghost Pirates of the ECHL. DiLiberatore recorded three assists in 22 games with the Silver Knights this season, and tallied another three assists in 18 games with the Ghost Pirates.
DiLiberatore has played in 88 career AHL games, all with Henderson from 2021-23, and has registered three goals, 22 assists and 25 points.
Prior to turning professional, the defenseman played three seasons of collegiate hockey at Quinnipiac University from 2018-21. In 101 career games, he tallied 15 goals, 45 assists and 60 points.
DiLiberatore was originally drafted in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft by the Vegas Golden Knights.
