The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Frank Corrado from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

Defenseman Justin Schultz has been placed on injured reserve.

Corrado, 24, has skated in six games with WBS this year, tallying two points (1G-1A). He has also compiled a plus-4 that ranks second on the club.

A 6-foot, 205-pound Toronto, Ontario native, Corrado saw action in two games with the Penguins during last year’s regular season after being acquired at the trading deadline in a deal from the Toronto Maple Leafs that sent Eric Fehr and Steve Oleksy to the Leafs. Corrado skated with Pittsburgh’s “Black Aces” practice squad during the final rounds of the Penguins’ Stanley Cup run.

Originally a fifth-round (150th overall) selection by the Vancouver Canucks back in the 2011 NHL Draft, Corrado has appeared in a total of 71 career NHL games with Vancouver, Toronto and Pittsburgh, producing eight points (3G-5A). Corrado broke into the NHL as a 20 year old with Vancouver in 2013.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next game is Friday, Oct. 27 against the Hershey Bears at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Puck drop for the first meeting of the season between those two bitter rivals is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Individual tickets for all Penguins home games are available at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza box office, online at TicketMaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.

Season ticket packages for the 19th season of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey, including full season22-game12-game and Flexbook plans, are available by contacting the Penguins directly at (570) 208-7367.
