The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Dominik Simon from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

Casey DeSmith, Andrey Pedan and Garrett Wilson have all been re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Simon, 23, has skated in six NHL games with Pittsburgh this year, collecting a pair of assists. Both helpers came on Dec. 9 against Toronto, the first multiple-point game of his NHL career. Simon has four assists in 11 career NHL contests over the past three years.

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound Simon scored the overtime game-winning goal against the Hershey Bears on December 30 (see video above) after returning to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton that day. Simon’s goal brought his season totals in the AHL to four goals, 13 assists and 17 points in 21 games. He has points in 14 of 21 games.

Pittsburgh originally drafted the Prague, Czech Republic native in the fifth round (137th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next game is this Wednesday, January 3, as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers visit Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Puck drop between the Penguins and Sound Tigers is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Individual tickets for all Penguins home games are available at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza box office, online at TicketMaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.
