WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The American Hockey League announced today the individual team winners of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year awards, selected by their respective clubs for their outstanding contributions to the local community and charitable organizations during the 2023-24 season. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year is defenseman Jack St. Ivany.

Who is St. Ivany and Why is he the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year

St. Ivany, who is 24-years old, earned the honor for his unwavering enthusiasm towards supporting the Penguins numerous community and fan engagement events.

Always among the first players to volunteer, St. Ivany participated in handing out Thanksgiving meals with the CEO Weinberg Food Bank; wrapping Christmas gifts for children in need through the Valley Santa initiative; and visited patients at the Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Children’s Hospital.

The native of Manhattan Beach, California takes every opportunity he can to personally connect with fans, particularly the team’s young supporters, making an effort to engage with them both inside and outside of the rink.

All IOA/American Specialty Man of the Year award-winners from the AHL’s 32 member clubs are finalists for the 2023-24 Yanick Dupré Memorial Award. The AHL’s annual community service award is named after the late Yanick Dupré, who died in 1997 at the age of 24 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. Dupré, an AHL All-Star in 1995, played four seasons with the Hershey Bears and also skated in 35 National Hockey League games with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The winner of the 2023-24 Yanick Dupré Memorial Award will be announced later this month.
