WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have recalled forward Adam Krause from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL).
In addition, the Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Oskar Sundqvist from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Krause has earned nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 26 games with the Nailers this season, tying his offensive output from his rookie season last year in 11 fewer contests. The Hermantown, Minn. native notched his first career hat trick as part of a five-point night (3G-2A) on Dec. 16, 2016 vs. Fort Wayne.
Krause appeared in one game with the Penguins this season, going scoreless on Oct. 22, 2016 vs. Syracuse. Last year, he played in 15 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and recorded four points (1G-3A). The 24-year-old scored his first career AHL goal on a shorthanded breakaway against the Hershey Bears on Mar. 20, 2016. He became the first Penguin in five years to score his first goal while the team was playing shorthanded.
Sundqvist, 22, ranks third on the club with 16 goals, and fourth with 39 points, in 53 contests.
Last year, the 6-foot-3, 209-pound pivot from Boden, Sweden logged his first NHL action with Pittsburgh, totaling four points (1G-3A) in 18 regular-season games, then appearing in two Stanley Cup playoff contests. Sundqvist earned both a Stanley Cup ring, and a day with the Cup in his hometown.
Over the past two seasons, Sundqvist has appeared in 98 AHL games with WBS, scoring 21 times and adding 35 assists for 56 points with a plus-8.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next game is tonight, Friday, Mar. 10, when it takes on the Hartford Wolf Pack at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
