For the second straight season, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be paying tribute to one of the cities that makes northeast Pennsylvania a great place to live, when the team becomes the Pittston Tomatoes for one night only – this Saturday night – when they host the Laval Rocket at 6:05pm.

Following on the heels of last year’s Old Forge Pizza night, Pittston Tomatoes Night, presented by Visit Luzerne County, will see the team rebranded for one evening.   The night will highlight many of the events and activities that make Pittston one of the special towns in the area, with the city’s Tomato Festival serving as the catalyst.

All digital graphics inside the Mohegan Sun Arena will be changed over to feature our fierce new tomato mascot;  the team’s Breakaway game program will feature tomato-themed articles;  all social media posts for the evening will be changed to fit the motif; there will be special tomato merchandise available for purchase; and the team will be wearing tomato jerseys, which will be auctioned off on the DASH auction app.

Additionally, Pittston Mayor Mike Lombardo will be on hand for the ceremonial puck drop, and Tomato Festival mascot STEW will join Tux for in-stand fun throughout the night.

The Tomatoes will also be conduction a PASTA AND SAUCE DRIVE before the game on Saturday.  Fans are encouraged to bring a box of their favorite pasta and/or a jar of sauce to the East Gate of the arena.  All collected items will be donated to the Pittston Meals on Wheels.

Tickets for the game are available now online through TicketMaster.com, or by calling the Tomatoes at 570-208-7367.
