Penguins Weekly Rewind

Friday, Oct. 20 – PENGUINS 0 at Hartford 5
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton began the weekend in Hartford, but was unable to solve former Penguin Louis Domingue. Domingue stopped all 35 shots while the Wolf Pack built a three-goal lead and tacked on two empty netters. It was also a chippy contest featuring two first-period fights. Corey Andonovski and captain Taylor Fedun both dropped the gloves for the Black & Gold.

Saturday, Oct. 21 – PENGUINS 3 vs. Springfield 1
The home opener of the Penguins’ 25th season was a success as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton took care of business against the Thunderbirds. Joel Blomqvist made 31 saves en route to his first AHL win. A breakaway goal from Vinnie Hinostroza early in the second period opened the scoring. Rem Pitlick’s power-play goal at 9:03 of the third period broke a 1-1 tie, and Jansen Harkins potted an empty-net goal put the Pens ahead for good.

The Weekly Ahead

Wednesday, Oct. 25 – PENGUINS vs. Hershey
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton clashes with the Hershey Bears for the first time this season. The teams played 12 times last season, each winning six matchups. Six of those 12 games required overtime or a shootout to find a winner, as well.

Saturday, Oct. 28 – PENGUINS vs. Hartford
The Penguins look for revenge against the Wolf Pack as they welcome Hartford to NEPA for a Saturday night tilt. The Pack enters this week as the Eastern Conference’s lone unbeaten team, outscoring opponents 16-4 in their four games.

Sunday, Oct. 29 – PENGUINS at Hershey
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will make its first visit to Giant Center this season for its second game against Hershey in five days. Bears forward Ethen Frank has notched three goals in five games this season, all of which have been power-play goals.
