Wilkes-Barre/Scranton set on stacking wins after thrilling home victory

Penguins (4-3-1-0) will close October in Utica, start November with rivalry match in Hershey

Weekly Rewind

Friday, Oct. 23 – PENGUINS 3 vs. Belleville 7
Despite a surge in the second period, a slow start and sluggish finish doomed Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in its battle with Belleville. The Senators took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission, but the Penguins fought back with goals by Tristan Broz and Daniel Russell early in the second. Jake Livanavge notched a power-play goal in the middle frame, as well. However, another run of three-straight goals in the third period gave the B-Sens the win.

Saturday, Oct. 24 – PENGUINS 3 vs. Hartford 2
The Penguins secured their first home win of the season in thrilling fashion thanks to a third-period comeback. Down 1-0 midway through the final frame, Finn Harding scored his first goal of the season to tie things up. Harding set up Broz for a go-ahead goal four minutes later. The Wolf Pack scored a six-on-four, man-advantage marker late to briefly even the scales, but Owen Pickering buried a slap shot with 80 seconds remaining to put the Penguins ahead for good. With the win, the Penguins improved to 12-3-0-0 (.800) against Hartford under head coach Kirk MacDonald.

The Week Ahead

Friday, Oct. 30 – PENGUINS at Utica
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Utica look to stir things up on Mischief Night in Upstate New York. Comets forward Lenni Hämeenaho is off to a point-per-game start to the season (3G-3A), and former Penguin Gabe Klassen has found the back of the net in back-to-back games.

Sunday, Nov. 1 – PENGUINS at Hershey
The Penguins and Bears reignite their rivalry for the first time this season and for the first time since Wilkes-Barre/Scranton eliminated Hershey from last year’s Cader Cup Playoffs on GIANT Center ice. Sunday will be the third game of a three-in-three this weekend for Hershey, as well.
