Wednesday, Dec. 13 – PENGUINS 6 vs. Springfield 3
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton rattled off five unanswered goals en route to stunning Springfield, 6-3. Greg McKegg scored his first goal with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to kickstart a comeback, followed by a two-tally outburst from Daniel Sprong. Zach Aston-Reese had three assists, while Shavertown native Patrick McGrath sealed the “W” with his first goal of the season.
Friday, Dec. 15 – PENGUINS 3 at Hartford 7
The Penguins went into Friday having won 10-straight games against the Wolf Pack, but couldn’t make it 11. The Pens allowed seven goals for the first time since Jan. 28, 2012. However, Sprong managed to score for the fourth contest in a row.
Saturday, Dec. 16 – PENGUINS 2 at Bridgeport 3 (OT)
In a back and forth, well-contested game by both teams, the Sound Tigers used an overtime power play to secure the extra point in the standings. Casey DeSmith posted 30 saves in a losing effort, while Aston-Reese forced OT with his first goal since Nov. 12.
The Week Ahead
Friday, Dec. 22 – PENGUINS vs. Binghamton
The Binghamton Devils step through the doors of Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza for their first time in the team’s regular season history on Friday. The Penguins already took on the Devils once in their barn, defeating them, 4-3.
Saturday, Dec. 23 – PENGUINS vs. Lehigh Valley
The Penguins will air their grievances on Festivus Night against their in-state rival, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The season series between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Lehigh Valley has been tight so far, with the Pens holding a narrow 3-2-0-0 edge through five games.

– Daniel Sprong leads all AHL rookies in goals (15), shots on goal (82), and also tied for most power play goals among rookies (7).
– Zach Aston-Reese’s three-assist game on Wednesday was his second three-assist game of the season and the third three-point game of his career.
