WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – More than 100 essential workers will be welcomed to Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza this Wednesday night, courtesy of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Season Ticket Members.
The Penguins reached out to local companies with employees who were on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic to offer them free seats for Wednesday’s game against the Syracuse Crunch.
Tickets were made available by Penguins Season Ticket Members, who have donated their unused tickets from the shortened 2019-20 season to local essential workers (healthcare workers, police/firefighters, retail workers, childcare workers, teachers, etc.)
“We are extremely grateful to those members of our community who were working to keep us moving forward during the most trying times,” said Penguins Chief Executive Officer Jeff Barrett. “We are equally as grateful to have a dedicated and caring group of season ticket members who have stepped up to show their support for those individuals with this small token of appreciation.”
The Penguins are currently able to accommodate 1,245 fans for home games under the current state-wide capacity regulations. The team’s first game with fans back was this past Friday night, and every available ticket was sold in advance of the contest.
The Penguins will also host essential workers, courtesy of the team’s season ticket members, for future home games scheduled for Wednesday, Apr. 28 and Wednesday, May 12. Information on how essential workers can request tickets will be available via wbspenguins.com one week prior to the game dates.
A limited number of tickets still remain for this week’s home contests (Wednesday vs. Syracuse at 7:00 p.m., Friday vs. Hershey at 7:00 p.m.) and are available for purchase by contacting the Penguins directly at 570-208-7367.
