WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have reassigned defenseman David Breazeale to their ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades.
Breazeale played in two contests for Florida at the start of the season. He recorded no points, but the Everblades won both of those games.
Breazeale appeared in nine regular-season contests for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season as a rookie, then skated in two additional Calder Cup Playoff games. In 11 career regular-season games for the Penguins, the Grandville, Michigan native has four points (1G-3A) and 10 penalty minutes.
Breazeale was also with the Wheeling Nailers for the entirety of their long playoff run in the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs, eventually falling to the Everblades in the Eastern Conference Final. During the postseason, the 26-year-old recorded two assists in 17 games.
Breazeale signed a two-year contract with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2025 after he completed his senior season at the University of Maine. As team captain, he helped the Black Bears secure their first Hockey East Championship in 21 years. Breazeale amassed 51 points (8G-43A) in 144 collegiate games with Maine.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next game is on the road against the Utica Comets on Friday, Oct. 30. Game time between the Penguins and Comets is set for 7:00 p.m. at Adirondack Bank Center.
The Penguins’ next home game is also against the Comets on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and it is the Penguins’ first Winning Weekday of the season. If the Penguins secure a win, fans who are in attendance will receive a free ticket to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next midweek home game. Puck drop is slated for 6:35 p.m. at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza.
