The American Hockey League announced todayย that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman David Warsofsky has been added to the Atlantic Divisionโsย rosterย for theย ย ย ย ย ย 2017 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Capital BlueCross, to be held January 29-30 at PPL Center in Allentown, Pa.
In addition, the AHL announced that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forward Jakeย Guentzelย will be unavailable for the event.
Warsofskyย hasย recordedย eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points in 27 games played, as well as aย ย ย ย ย league-leading plus-27 rating.ย He is currently tied for fifth among AHLย defensemen in scoring.ย Furthermore, Warsofsky was named CCM/AHL Player of the Week forย the period ending Jan.ย 8, 2017 as a result of earning seven points (2G-5A) โ including an overtime game-winner โ over the course of a four-game stretch.
This will be the Marshfield, Mass. nativeโs first AHL All-Star Classic, and marks the third-straight year thatย a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defenseman will take part in AHL All-Star festivities.
The 2017 All-Star rosters now feature 39 first-time participants, 12 AHL rookies and 12 former first- and second-round NHL draft choices. In addition, 28 of this yearโs All-Stars have been recalled to the National Hockey League already this season.

Wilkes-Barre/Scrantonโs next game is tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 25,ย againstย the Syracuse Crunch at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Puck drop between the Penguins and Crunch is scheduled forย ย 7:05 p.m.
